Top Ten Series I Haven't Finished

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and today's theme is "Top Ten Series I Haven't Finished."

Before I Wake (Soul Screamers, #6)1.  Soul Screamers by Rachel Vincent- I love this series, I'm just too poor to buy Before I Wake and am still on the hold list for it at my library! I really want more Todd, so I might have to coerce my mom into buying it for me if I don't get it soon!

2. Paranormalcy by Kiersten White- another one I totally love, but have yet to read Endlessly, because it is still checked out at my library! The gall of some people :P

3. Fallen by Lauren Kate- I really liked the first book, but the second bored me and I have no desire to ever finish the series. They have beautiful covers though. JUST SAYIN'.

Embrace

Jessica Shirvington
Pages: 369
Publisher: Sourcebooks Fire
Format: Hardcover
Source: Library
Age Group: Young Adult
Embrace (The Violet Eden Chapters, #1)Date Published: March 6, 2012
It starts with a whisper: "It's time for you to know who you are..."
On her 17th birthday, everything will change for Violet Eden. The boy she loves will betray her. Her enemy will save her. She will have to decide just how much she's willing to sacrifice.
Dangerously exciting and darkly romantic, EMBRACE is a compelling novel of good and evil, seductive desires and impossible choices. A centuries old war between fallen angels and the protectors of humanity chooses a new fighter. It's a battle Violet doesn't want, but she lives her life by two rules: don't run and don't quit. If angels seek vengeance and humans are the warriors, you could do a lot worse than betting on Violet Eden.
LINCOLN: He's been Violet's one anchor, her running partner and kickboxing trainer. Only he never told her he's Grigori--part human, part angel--and that he was training her for an ancient battle between Angels and Exiles.
PHOENIX: No one knows where his loyalties lie, yet he's the only one there to pick up the pieces and protect her after Lincoln's lies. In a world of dark and light, he is all shades of gray.
Two sides: Angel or Exile.
Two guys: Lincoln or Phoenix.
The wrong choice could cost not only her life, but her eternity...

Top Ten Bookish People You Want To Meet

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and today's theme is "Top Ten Bookish People You Want To Meet."

Onyx (Lux, #2)1. Jennifer Armentrout- author of a lot of books, including the Lux series, which is one of my favorites EVER. She also wrote Cursed, which comes out today!!! (But I can't buy it b/c I am broke.) Anyways, she is super cool and funny and all around adorable, and I would really love to meet her (and get my copy of Onyx signed!!!).

2. Cassandra Clare- author of The Mortal Instruments and Infernal Devices series, extremely amazing. Uh, yeah. I love her books, and she seems like a super cool person, also, and I would love to get my books signed :D

3. Victoria Schwab- author of The Near Witch and soon(ish)-to-be-released The Archived!! I just kind of love her. A lot. I won an ARC of The Innocents from her, and she sent me a bunch of book swag and a nice little note with it, and I appreciated it greatly and just desperately want to meet her!

Daughter of Smoke and Bone (Daughter of Smoke and Bone, #1)Date Published: September 27, 2011
Around the world, black hand prints are appearing on doorways, scorched there by winged strangers who have crept through a slit in the sky.
In a dark and dusty shop, a devil's supply of human teeth grows dangerously low.
And in the tangled lanes of Prague, a young art student is about to be caught up in a brutal otherwordly war.
Meet Karou. She fills her sketchbooks with monsters that may or may not be real; she's prone to disappearing on mysterious "errands"; she speaks many languages—not all of them human; and her bright blue hair actually grows out of her head that color. Who is she? That is the question that haunts her, and she's about to find out.
When one of the strangers—beautiful, haunted Akiva—fixes his fire-colored eyes on her in an alley in Marrakesh, the result is blood and starlight, secrets unveiled, and a star-crossed love whose roots drink deep of a violent past. But will Karou live to regret learning the truth about herself?

Sneak Promo Post + Giveaway

Evan Angler
Pages: 288
Publisher: Thomas Nelson
Age Group: Young Adult
SneakDate Published: September 4, 2012
In a future United States under the power of a charismatic leader, everyone gets the Mark at age thirteen. The Mark lets citizen shop, go to school, and even get medical care-but without it, you are on your own. Few refuse to get the Mark. Those who do . . . disappear.
Logan Langly went in to get his Mark, but he backed out at the last minute. Now he's on the run from government agents who will stop at nothing to capture him. But Logan is on a mission to find and save his sister, Lily, who disappeared five years ago on her thirteenth birthday, the day she was supposed to receive her Mark.
Logan and his friends, a group of dissenters called the Dust, discover a vast network of the Unmarked, who help them travel safely to the capital city where Lily is imprisoned. Along the way, the Dust receives some startling information from the Markless community, opening their eyes to the message of Christianity and warning that humanity is now entering the End of Days.
When the Dust finally arrives in the capital, it seems that all their careful planning is useless against a government that will do anything to bend its citizens to its will. Can the gentle words Logan has found in a tattered, banned Bible really stand against the most powerful military the world has ever known? Can Logan even sacrifice his own freedom, choosing to act through faith alone?

Doesn't this just sound fantastic??? I also have the privilege to post the giveaway for it here, so, if it sounds great to you too, enter to win!

Top Ten Books That Make You Think

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and today's theme is "Top Ten Books That Make You Think."

Just Listen1. Just Listen by Sarah Dessen. A lot of Sarah Dessen's books make me question love and the way I treat other people, but this one really hit the mark. It made me think about friendship and what could really lie on the inside of other girls.

2. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Don't think less of me for this one guys. It made me think about what people will do to survive, and how much they are will to turn a blind eye on to stay under the radar.

3. The Demon's Lexicon by Sarah Rees Brennan. I mean, at the end of my review for this book I told you guys I had to question whether I was evil or not!!

4. Ultraviolet by R.J. Anderson. It portrays a side of mental illness that I had never before even thought about! The kids mentioned in the hospital all had something traumatic that happened to them as children that harmed them and pushed them into the realm of mental illness. It was kind of a beautiful story, and I loved how we never know whether or not the MC is sick or not until the end.

Emily Webb is a geek. And she’s happy that way. Content hiding under hoodies and curling up to watch old horror flicks, she’s never been the kind of girl who sneaks out for midnight parties. And she’s definitely not the kind of girl who starts fights or flirts with other girls’ boyfriends. Until one night Emily finds herself doing exactly that . . . the same night one of her classmates—also named Emily—is found mysteriously murdered.

The thing is, Emily doesn’t know why she’s doing any of this. By day, she’s the same old boring Emily, but by night, she turns into a thrill seeker. With every nightfall, Emily gets wilder until it’s no longer just her personality that changes. Her body can do things it never could before: Emily is now strong, fast, and utterly fearless. And soon Emily realizes that she’s not just coming out of her shell . . . there’s something much bigger going on. Is she bewitched by the soul of the other, murdered Emily? Or is Emily Webb becoming something else entirely— something not human?

As Emily hunts for answers, she finds out that she’s not the only one this is happening to—some of her classmates are changing as well. Who is turning these teens into monsters—and how many people will they kill to get what they want?

Stacking the Shelves (4)

Hey guys! So, my first week of junior year has been crazy (I currently have 2 books to read for AP English, 3 pages of calculus homework and some worksheet for Chem.. and it's the weekend.) Because of that, I have not been very active online during the week. Luckily though, next week I will have less to do and I'll be able to comment and tweet and whatnot... hopefully. I'm also kind of the NHS secretary for my school and have service projects to plan, but let's hope I can be active again with y'all. That said, I did get a couple books this week:
