The Feature & Follow blog hop is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. To join the fun and make new book blogger friends, just follow these simple rules:
- (Required) Follow the Follow My Book Blog Friday Hosts {Parajunkee & Alison Can Read}
- (Required) Follow our Featured Bloggers
- Put your Blog name & URL in the Linky thing. You can also grab the code if you would like to insert it into your posts.
- Grab the button up there and place it in a post, this post is for people to find a place to say "hi" in your comments and that they are now following you.
- If you are using WordPress or another CMS that doesn't have GFC (Google Friends Connect) state in your posts how you would like to be followed
- Follow Follow Follow as many as you can, as many as you want, or just follow a few. The whole point is to make new friends and find new blogs. Also, don't just follow, comment and say hi. Another blogger might not know you are a new follower if you don't say "HI"
If someone comments and says they are following you, be a dear and follow back. Spread the Love...and the followers
GUYS I was one of the featured bloggers this week!! This is so exciting! Woohoo! Anyways... Getting back to business:
If you're new to the Follow Friday hop, comment and let me know, so I can stop by and check out your blog!
A: I very rarely read books I think I'm going to hate, but I will if everyone seems to love it and I want to be contrary. I was so sure I wasn't going to like Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi for some unknown reason, and I went into reading it braced to hate it. I thought that it would be written in a different manner, and I was shocked when I was hooked a couple pages in. I kept thinking "Wait. This is good. Why is this so good? This shouldn't be this go- OMG ADAM IS WONDERFUL AND I LOVE JULIETTE AND TAHEREH AND THIS BOOK OMG" (Seriously, the way it's written is incredible and I highly recommend reading it). Now it's one of my very favorites!
What book did you think you would hate?? Follow and let me know you were here, and I'll come follow back!
Congrats on being featured! I haven't read Shatter Me yet, but I do own it so I should get around to doing that. I heard it's written really different.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I thought the same thing about Shatter Me! Nice blog :)

Congrats on being featured. I don't read books I think I will hate either but I have read books I thought I would like but ended up hating. I would rather be pleasantly surprised than read a disappointing book.

Hi! This is the 2nd time Silk Screen Views is joining the blog hop. Following you by Twitter.
ReplyDeleteI'm actually not a huge fan of a lot of books people love. One of them is the Sookie Stackhouse series. It's just not my thing. The writing... ugh. Don't get me started! Ha!
I started following this blog last week. We prefer people to follow us on SSV via Wordpress, Email or Twitter. =)

Congrats! :D
ReplyDeleteI experienced almost the same with 'Shatter Me'. Everyone was telling me how awful it would be with all its similes and methapors, an annoying story, dumb characters etc. When I eventually read it, I was suprised that it wasn't THAT bad at all! I don't understand all the rage about it.
Old follower :)

I had sort of the opposite reaction to Shatter Me. It sounded perfect me, but I just thought it was average. I've heard better things about Unravel Me, and I hope to read it soon.

ReplyDeleteCongrats on being one of the featured!
ReplyDeleteOhh, I went into Shatter Me with the opposite thoughts but came out feeling very disappointed. I'm definitely going to read book 2 in the series but really only because the end of Shatter Me felt like it flipped 180. Although I was a fan of the writing style of Shatter Me, just not the plot or the romance. Although Warren's characterization was freaking awesome!

Shatter Me is such a well written novel. That is one of the things I LOVE about it, but I've been hearing that the second book doesn't have as much of that written poetry. Like the writing style was tuned down a bit, but I haven't read the second one yet so we'll have to see.

Congrats on the feature! Shatter sounds great! I don't read books that I don't think I'll like. I've changed my mind based on reviews and recommendations and decided that oh, that does sound interesting after all let's give it a shot, but if it never gets my interest then it's not going to happen.

ReplyDeleteI have read a couple of books out of boredom that really surprised me(;
I was a little hesitant on Shatter Me as well.

ReplyDeleteI almost think going into a book expecting to not like it is a good thing. Because then, when the book surprises you, it's this amazing thing, and it sticks with you.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read Shatter Me, but my cousin LOVES IT!
Yes, the only time I read books I don't think I'll like is when EVERYONE is raving about them and I want to see what I'm missing.

ReplyDeleteOh my God, I had the same reaction to Shatter Me! Especially about Adam <3 He was so amazing. I was really prepared to hate this book, but I read it because everyone else read it, too, and I felt left out! haha It's good when books surprise like that.
