Top Ten Favorite Kick-Ass Heroines

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and today's theme is "Top Ten Favorite Kick-Ass Heroines."

Megans's Picks:

Every Other Day
1. Kali Every Other Day: She got a parasite, saved everybody, and killed things. Obviously, this chick kicks butt. Also, she was freaking hilarious.

2. Clary Mortal Instruments: In the 4th & 5th books she starts to learn how to fight and do cool things and kill stuff. In all of them, though, she runs right into danger and saves people, and I like her.

3. Juliett Shatter Me: She kills things with her touch. Obviously, she's cool.

The Evolution of Mara Dyer Teaser Trailer!

DID IT GIVE YOU CHILLS? It seriously gave me chills. I know I don't usually do posts like this, but Michelle Hodkin is having a giveaway... and I wanted extra entries.... I JUST WANT A MARA DYER TSHIRT. (I swear I haven't had any caffeine today... just a 3 hour test... no biggie).

SO, all you Mara Dyer fans like myself should go check out said giveaway here.

And, I may *crosses fingers* be going to YALLFEST down in Charleston with two of my friends (one of whom should be writing a review for the blog soon!). I want to see Cassie Clare and Michelle Hodkin (who is giving really cool swag away at all her signings this year, btw) SO BAD. Guys, really. I HAVE to go to this thing. :D

Top Ten Favorite YA Paranormal Authors

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and today's theme is "Top Ten Favorite Authors In X Genre" and I picked YA Paranormal, cause I read that the mostest.

City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1)1. Cassandra Clare- Duh, Mortal Instruments and the Infernal Devices? How can she NOT be my numero uno! I've read City of Bones almost as many times as The Lightning Thief, and I just love her writing style. I also totally love the world of the Shadowhunters (I would make a great one BTW- I look fantastic in black).

2. Jennifer Armentrout! How many times have y'all heard me go off on how much I love Daemon Black? He's brilliant. And I am in love with the Lux series! It's so different and the romance is AMAZING. I love Katy and Daemon as a couple, they need to be together, yes?

3.Kiersten White- Oh my goodness, her books are so cute, and funny. I love her take on the paranormal stuff, b/c it's very different from most YA today. Plus, Evie has a pink taser named Tasey. How can you not love her?

REWIND: Top Ten Fictional Crushes

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and today's theme is "Top Ten Tuesday REWIND" and I picked "Top Ten Fictional Crushes," because I enjoy talking about book boys :)

Onyx (Lux, #2)1. Daemon Black from the Lux series by Jennifer Armentrout. He's sarcastic and has this incredibly dry sense of humor (much like myself, and everyone just insists that I'm mean... psh) He's hilarious and I love his and Katy's banter. It's fantastic. And that whole Kitten thing?

2. Noah Shaw from The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin. Uh, hello? This is Noah-freaking-Shaw. He's hot, he's British, and he is, like, "holy crap I'm gonna pee myself" funny. When he stood up for Mara when that psycho chick took her sketchbook, I realized I was in love. He's just too amazing. Obviously why he isn't real. Because amazing guys have yet to be found in the real world.

Breathe

Pages: 400
Publisher: Greenwillow

Breathe (Breathe, #1)Date Published: October 2, 2012

Inhale. Exhale. Breathe.
Breathe.
Breathe . . .
The world is dead.
The survivors live under the protection of Breathe, the corporation that found a way to manufacture oxygen-rich air.
Alina
has been stealing for a long time. She's a little jittery, but not terrified. All she knows is that she's never been caught before. If she's careful, it'll be easy. If she's careful.
Quinn
should be worried about Alina and a bit afraid for himself, too, but even though this is dangerous, it's also the most interesting thing to happen to him in ages. It isn't every day that the girl of your dreams asks you to rescue her.
Bea
wants to tell him that none of this is fair; they'd planned a trip together, the two of them, and she'd hoped he'd discover her out here, not another girl.
And as they walk into the Outlands with two days' worth of oxygen in their tanks, everything they believe will be shattered. Will they be able to make it back? Will they want to?

Sydney Sage is an Alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire secrets—and human lives.
Sydney would love to go to college, but instead, she’s been sent into hiding at a posh boarding school in Palm Springs, California–tasked with protecting Moroi princess Jill Dragomir from assassins who want to throw the Moroi court into civil war. Formerly in disgrace, Sydney is now praised for her loyalty and obedience, and held up as the model of an exemplary Alchemist.
But the closer she grows to Jill, Eddie, and especially Adrian, the more she finds herself questioning her age–old Alchemist beliefs, her idea of family, and the sense of what it means to truly belong. Her world becomes even more complicated when magical experiments show Sydney may hold the key to prevent becoming Strigoi—the fiercest vampires, the ones who don’t die. But it’s her fear of being just that—special, magical, powerful—that scares her more than anything. Equally daunting is her new romance with Brayden, a cute, brainy guy who seems to be her match in every way. Yet, as perfect as he seems, Sydney finds herself being drawn to someone else—someone forbidden to her.
When a shocking secret threatens to tear the vampire world apart, Sydney’s loyalties are suddenly tested more than ever before. She wonders how she's supposed to strike a balance between the principles and dogmas she's been taught, and what her instincts are now telling her.
Should she trust the Alchemists—or her heart?

In the future, only one rule will matter:
Don’t. Ever. Peek.
Seventeen-year-old Ari Alexander just broke that rule and saw the last person she expected hovering above her bed — arrogant Jackson Locke, the most popular boy in her school. She expects instant execution or some kind of freak alien punishment, but instead, Jackson issues a challenge: help him, or everyone on Earth will die.
Ari knows she should report him, but everything about Jackson makes her question what she’s been taught about his kind. And against her instincts, she’s falling for him. But Ari isn’t just any girl, and Jackson wants more than her attention. She’s a military legacy who’s been trained by her father and exposed to war strategies and societal information no one can know — especially an alien spy, like Jackson. Top Ten "Older" Books You Don't Want People To Forget About

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and today's theme is "Top Ten "Older" Books You Don't Want People To Forget About."

This Lullaby

1. This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen. This is my all-time favorite book of hers, and I haven't seen many people talk about it recently. The romance is so cute and funny, and yet is extremely moving. Remy is hilarious, and Dexter is the boy I totally want to marry. They're amazing :)

2. The Spiderwick Chronicles series by Holly Black and Tony DiTerlizzi. I know I'm kind of cheating since this is technically five books, and they're MG, which I don't really do on my blog.... but it's one of my favorites from like the fourth grade. My mom actually read the entire series to me when I was sick with the flu and in bed for a week. They're so awesome. And, if I recall correctly, much better than the movie.

Unspoken (The Lynburn Legacy, #1)Date Published: September 11, 2012

Kami Glass loves someone she’s never met . . . a boy she’s talked to in her head ever since she was born. She wasn’t silent about her imaginary friend during her childhood, and is thus a bit of an outsider in her sleepy English town of Sorry-in-the-Vale. Still, Kami hasn’t suffered too much from not fitting in. She has a best friend, runs the school newspaper, and is only occasionally caught talking to herself. Her life is in order, just the way she likes it, despite the voice in her head. But all that changes when the Lynburns return.
The Lynburn family has owned the spectacular and sinister manor that overlooks Sorry-in-the-Vale for centuries. The mysterious twin sisters who abandoned their ancestral home a generation ago are back, along with their teenage sons, Jared and Ash, one of whom is eerily familiar to Kami. Kami is not one to shy away from the unknown—in fact, she’s determined to find answers for all the questions Sorry-in-the-Vale is suddenly posing. Who is responsible for the bloody deeds in the depths of the woods? What is her own mother hiding? And now that her imaginary friend has become a real boy, does she still love him? Does she hate him? Can she trust him?
