{Top Ten Tuesday} Top Ten Characters I'd NEVER Want To Trade Places With

 

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and today's theme is "Top Ten Characters I'd NEVER Want To Trade Places With."

1. Katniss Everdeen - I figure this one's pretty darn cliche, but come on. No one wants to be in the Hunger Games! I'm kind of a softy, and I don't think I could survive seeing so much death and destruction. (The Hunger Games)

2. Sam Temple - As the leader of the FAYZ, Sam has to make a lot of big decisions. Many of which involve the deaths of other people. He has to handle starvation and the threat of his evil twin coming to kill him. I'd be terrified. I could never, would never want to take his place. (Gone)

3. Juliet Moreau - Her dad's a nutcase who experiments with vivsection on animals. She has two boys pining for her (score), but neither are what she thought they were. The island she ends up on is terrifying and dangerous, because of her madman of a father. Who is also a jerk. I couldn't trade places with her for all the money in the world. (The Madman's Daughter)


4. Jasper Dent - He's the child of a serial killer who has to constantly remind himself that people are real and that he shouldn't kill them. He lives with his crazy grandma and likes to sneak out to crime scenes. His life is nuts and scary and no thank you. ( I Hunt Killers)

5. America Singer - This sounds like a weird one, but hear me out. She's basically a contestant on the Bachelor, except the bachelor is a prince. She knows a lot about things she shouldn't, and there are attacks on her castle all the time. Also, not a big fan of Aspen her previous boyfriend. In her place, I would totally have dumped him and said yes to Maxon from the beginning. Maybe I do kinda want her place... (The Selection)

6. Annie - Annie is blind and sees the future. She has to deal with worrying for her sister's safety and wanting to escape. She is helpless, mostly, and needs help whenever she wants to go somewhere new. They only reason she's still alive is because she's useful. I would hate to be her. (Mind Games)

7. Tris Prior - Actually, I would kill to be Tris, up until Allegiant (if you've read it you know why). I love the world of Divergent and the whole Dauntless thing really appeals to me. Tattoos and wearing black and jumping off trains? Yes please. However, Tris is too daring and that ends badly for her at the end of her story. (Allegiant)

8. Juliette Ferrars - This is where I start to really cheat. I love Juliette. I've written about her in English and about Tahereh's writing style and how I hope to one day be able to write like that. However, I would not want to have the power to kill with my touch. I would like to have a Warner. God I love him. If I had to kill with my skin to have Warner, I might just go with it. (Shatter Me)

9. Mara Dyer - I mean, I would hate to accidentally kill people and wonder if I really am crazy. The problem is, I love her so much. I don't think I'd ever want her life. Ever. PTSD is scary. Her parents being afraid of her is scary. However, she has so much good stuff going for her too, that I might just want to be her. I love her family. Particularly Daniel. And Jamie and Noah are both amazing. I just don't know if hallucinations would be worth having a badass family and friends and boyfriend. Maybe. (The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer)
