Stacking the Shelves (4)

Hey guys! So, my first week of junior year has been crazy (I currently have 2 books to read for AP English, 3 pages of calculus homework and some worksheet for Chem.. and it's the weekend.) Because of that, I have not been very active online during the week. Luckily though, next week I will have less to do and I'll be able to comment and tweet and whatnot... hopefully. I'm also kind of the NHS secretary for my school and have service projects to plan, but let's hope I can be active again with y'all. That said, I did get a couple books this week:

So, this week I won:

The Innocents: Lili Peloquin + 2 signed bookmarks and and cute little The Archived... thing? Anyways, it's all from Victoria Schwab, to whom I am immensely grateful!

Defiance: C.J. Redwine I was surprised with this from Epic Reads on Thursday!! So another big thanks to them.

Pure: Julianna Baggott I knew I was getting this one, but I didn't think it would come so soon!! I got it through Goodreads First Reads, so a massive thank you to whoever listed the giveaway and sent me my book :)

From Netgalley:

The Lost Prince: Julie Kagawa *Dances around like a madwoman* This is the first legit book I've been approved for on one of the egalley sites!!! And I wrote about it in a WoW a couple weeks back, and I am just so EXCITED. Seriously, when I got the email, I was like this:

So, yes, we have a very happy Megan here. (Seriously, this is 3 ARCs this week, my first ones ever, actually).

I also got 3 books for upcoming blog tours:

Swipe: Evan Angler

Sneak: Evan Angler

Careful: Isobella Jade

With all of this, I just never bothered to go to the library! Unfortunately this means I also have overdue books, but they were due yesterday and I'm gonna stop by today.... :)

So, yeah! What did you guys get this week?

I was thinking about doing a vlog, but I look wretched and am feeling incredibly lazy. So, I'm just going to tell you guys what I got :D

I've won a lot of books in the past month or so, and I got the first of which (er not the first I won, just the first to get here) yesterday!! So:

Won:

Once (Eve #2): Anna Carey Thanks so much Epic Reads!!

And then my library got an insane number of new books and I just had to get some... or 6 but I mean, I can't help myself. I have like 9 at home still... Anyways:

Library:

The Girl in the Clockwork Collar (Steampunk Chronicles #2): Kady Cross
Eon: Dragoneye Reborn (Eon #1): Alison Goodman
A Beautiful Dark (A Beautiful Dark #1): Jocelyn Davies
Endure (Need #4): Carrie Jones
Darklight (Wondrous Strange #2): Lesley Livingston
Tempestuous (Wondrous Strange #3): Lesley Livingston

For Review:

Madman Dreams (Book One: Reanimated): Keith A. Ferstl
Stitch (Stitch Trilogy #1): Samantha Durante [This one is more for the blog tour]

Soooo, yeah... I got an overabundance of books and still need to read my Summer reading books (school starts in 8 days) and review Deadly Cool and The Demon's Lexicon... not good. But whatever, I got good books :D

Did you get any good books? Care to share? I'm just curious! Oh and what do you think of the books I got?!

Happy reading!

Stacking the Shelves (1)

I told y'all last week that I would be switching to Stacking the Shelves instead of In My Mailbox (just 'cause Saturday works better for me!), so here it is!!

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme held by Tynga at Tynga's Reviews, and her guidelines are:

• Create your own Stacking The Shelves post. You can use my official graphic or your own, but please link back to Tynga’s Reviews so more people can join the fun!

• Visit Tynga’s Reviews on Saturday and add your link so others can visit you
• Visit other participants link to find out what they added to their shelves!

So, here we go:

This week I got waaay too many books (I still have like four from last week left), but I'm doing the Bout of Books read-a-thon (goals post tomorrow) next week, so maaaayyyybbbeee I'll be able to read a lot of them? It's a nice sentiment anyways :) (please ignore my ugly carpet) Both pics are library books, I just split them up.

The Demon's Lexicon: Sarah Rees Brennan

Torn: Erica O'Rourke

Deadly Cool: Gemma Halliday

Sirensong: Jenna Black

Team Human: Justine Larbalestier & Sarah Rees Brennan

Gilt: Katherine Longshore

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight: Jennifer E. Smith

Every Other Day: Jennifer Lynn Barnes

And then I am obviously buying Onyx first thing Tuesday morning.... I'm so not gonna get to all these books. Ohhh well I'll try :)

Did you guys get anything good this week? If you leave me a link, I'll come visit your post!!

<end transmission>

In My Mailbox (11)

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by The Story Siren, (for more info click on the picture) where we book bloggers talk about the books we have received/borrowed/bought for the week. I didn't do an IMM last week, mainly because I just didn't have any new books. Also, I was lazy. And next week, I think I'm going to switch to Stacking the Shelves. But for now, I got some great library books:

Lola and the Boy Next Door: Stephanie Perkins

Cricket was one of the competitors in the YA Crush Tourney (speaking of which, go vote for Daemon for me? Please. Just click here. I will be forever in your debt :D), and he sounded like my kind of guy. You know, cute, awkward sorta guy. So, I picked up the book.

Uncommon Criminals: Ally Carter

I couldn't just sit here and hope Kat finally grew a brain and dated Hale. I had to know.

Tiger Lily: Jodi Lynn Anderson

I have been dying to read this book forever. I love Peter Pan (although this version doesn't make me like him very much or Wendy for that matter). I started it already, so I should be giving a review today or tomorrow. Probably tomorrow.

Looking for Alaska: John Green

My 9th grade English teacher had this John Green obsession. We watched his youtube videos in class and she talked me into reading his books. I loved Paper Towns and An Abundance or Katherines. I also saw a really cute excerpt from Looking for Alaska and knew I had to read it.

Glimmerglass: Jenna Black

The cover is pretty. I like fairies. Does that count as a reason?

Above: Leah Bobet

Amanda from Vivalabooks wrote a review for this. She didn't really like it very much, but her review made me curious. So I requested it at my library and here it is.

Soooooo yeah. That is my link-filled IMM for the week. My uncle is coming tomorrow, so I'm not sure how much reading time I'll get in. OH BTW, Amanda did a post on releases this week AND THERE ARE SOME REALLY GOOD ONES. Seriously, I think I'm heading to Barnes & Noble soon. (Her post is here)

Yup. You guys get anything good this week? I'm really behind on following links and stuff from comments, but I promise I'll get to it!

<end transmission>

In My Mailbox (10)

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by The Story Siren, (for more info click on the picture) where we book bloggers talk about the books we have received/borrowed/bought for the week. I went to Atlanta this past weekend & found a really cute used book store & found 2 awesome books at a Goodwill. Crazy, right? I've only got one library book, so I put all bought and borrowed books in the same pic.

If I Die: Rachel Vincent

I couldn't not get this!! I mean, after My Soul to Steal (which I reviewed earlier) I had to know what happened next!! I'm a little over halfway done with it now, so you can expect a review sometime around tomorrow morning (if I get my act together). I also have a strange feeling that I am going to be buying Before I Wake in the very near future.

Heist Society: Ally Carter

I got this in a Goodwill in Atlanta (and it may or may not be signed but Ally Carter, it depends on how sadistic the person was who gave it up "Hehehehe I think I'll fake sign this to make some chump get all excited," but who knows?) Anyways, I've been meaning to read this for a while, and the cover is just so cute, I really couldn't pass it up!!

Along for the Ride: Sarah Dessen

I got this at the same Goodwill (really Atlantians? These are good books!), and yeah I've already read it, but I love Sarah Dessen and I don't own any of her books, and I really needed to own it. Plus it adds very nice color to my drably colored bookshelf.

This Lullaby: Sarah Dessen

I got this one at the used bookstore (I'm broke!), and I've also already read this one. But, come on guys, it's one of my very favorite books ever, and I just had to own it!!!

So, yeah, less books than I usually have... I do have The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer, Scarlet, and Cinder on hold at the library right now, though. I'm gonna reread The Unbecoming so I can make better fanart for Michelle Hodkin's arc contest (http://michellehodkin.blogspot.com/2012/07/arcs-things.html), and then I never got around to reading Scarlet, and AC Gaughen is having a giveaway, and in order to enter, one has to take a pic of her book with a woman who has inspired me, and for every entry she's gonna donate $5 to Teen Voices (http://www.acgaughen.com/blog/2012/7/19/win-arcs-help-teen-voices.html)... and I just want to read Cinder. :)

So, how was everybody's week? Good? Good books? Links and whatnot are appreciated! I will go read and comment on your posts!

Oh and BTW one of my blogging buddies, Anna from Sonorous Words is giving away a copy of Endlessly, so go enter!!

<end transmission>

In My Mailbox (9)

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by The Story Siren, (for more info click on the picture) where we book bloggers talk about the books we have received/borrowed/bought for the week. I did get to go back to my favorite little book story (Yay!), but I also got a bunch of library books:

My Soul to Save: Rachel Vincent

My Soul to Keep: Rachel Vincent

My Soul to Steal: Rachel Vincent

Obviously these three are from the same series (unless you're extremely dim...), so I just decided to lump them together in my little blurb here. I'm most of the way through My Soul to Save, so you can expect a review soon. I'm kind of addicted to this series (Rachel Vincent is brilliant), so I kinda just got all of the ones my library had at once. (And they have If I Die waiting for me *eep*)

Rules of Attraction: Simone Elkeles

Chain Reaction: Simone Elkeles

These are the next books after Perfect Chemistry (which I read last week, and you can find my review here) and I was told that these two were just as good, so I thought I would finish the series!

And then, I bought:

Before I Fall: Lauren Oliver

I've heard a lot of good things about this book, and people are so excited about the books after it, that I just needed to know what the hype was about. It also has a really pretty cover. And I think I follow Lauren Oliver on Twitter, and I always feel guilty if I follow an author on Twitter and haven't read their books. Although, my sister did read Liesel & Po (she loved it). And for Shel to like a book, the author must be pretty amazing.

Soooo yeah! What did you guys get this week? Anything good? If you give me links to y'alls posts, I will read them! And comment. I promise. :)

<end transmission>

In My Mailbox (8)

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by The Story Siren, (for more info click on the picture) where we book bloggers talk about the books we have received/borrowed/bought for the week. I've given up on showing the books I have already reviewed this week, since that never really made sense... However, I have a bunch of new library books this week (I'm broke again, and have yet to go back to my new fave little used bookstore). So, here ya go:

Ashes: Ilsa J. Bick

Uh.. not sure why I picked this one... It kind of reminded me of Ashfall? I'm not sure by I've got a good feeling about it.

Jane: April Lindner

I LOVE Jane Eyre and a YA retelling of it? I had to get it!!! And the cover is just the right combination of haunting and pretty to hook me.

Perfect Chemistry: Simone Elkeles

Goodreads told me to. And the little excerpt on the back was funny.

Partials: Dan Wells

Goodreads also told me to read this one, but I gotta admit, it does look really really good.

I am Number Four: Pittacus Lore

I saw the movie and it stunk, but the storyline behind it was intriguing and I have higher hopes for the book.

Shatter Me: Tahereh Mafi

Pretty cover gets me every time.

Of Poseidon: Anna Banks

A) I love Anna Banks' tweets. B) Poseidon? Gotta have it. C) It's pretty. D) It looks amazing.

Sooo yeah, I got most of these while wandering around in the YA section at my library and being all "Oooooh this looks good!" Because that's just how I am.

What did y'all get this week? Links or whatever, I'm just curious!

 <end transmission>

In My Mailbox (7)

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by The Story Siren, (for more info click on the picture) where we book bloggers talk about the books we have received/borrowed/bought for the week. I got two of these pretty soon after my last IMM post, and have already reviewed them, but I'm gonna put them on here anyways.

From the library I got:

Blood: K. J. Wignall

Well, Goodreads told me to read this like 3 times. I felt like I had to! Plus the main character is a guy named Will, and I feel as though Wills make good guy characters in books. And I liked vampire books.

Enthralled: Melissa Marr, Kelley Armstrong, and other YA authors

I was feeling incredibly lazy, so I didn't list all 16 or so authors that contributed to this. They are all authors I have read or want to read, so I figured it was worth a shot.

The Hollow: Jessica Verday

I thought it was pretty....

Cold Kiss: Amy Garvey

Somebody I follow on Twitter (I can't remember who) posted about the sequel cover for this book, and I thought it looked really interesting. I love pretty covers, and this one has one, and yeah.

Suite Scarlett: Maureen Johnson

Maureen Johnson seems to be an extremely versatile author, and I really loved The Name of the Star, and this looked really cute, so I got it.

Jealousy: Lili St. Crow

This is the third book in the Strange Angels series, and I already read, loved, and reviewed this one (I'm not sure why I'm putting it on here, but it was in my picture...)

Betrayals: Lili St. Crow

This is the second book in the Strange Angels series (yeah, I know it should go before Jealousy), and I already read & reviewed this one, too.

The Magnolia League: Katie Crouch

I've been meaning to read this for a while, and I really just love the cover. I live in the south, and the premise sounded really interesting.

I also bought:

Touch of Frost: Jennifer Estep

EEEP more YA Greek mythology!! I love Greek mythology inspired books (like the Percy Jackson series, the Lost Hero books, and the Medusa Girls series), so I was super excited when I found this at my new favorite used book store.

Kiss of Frost: Jennifer Estep

They also had the second one, so I had to get it, too.

Almost to Die For: Tate Hallaway

This was in my Goodreads recommendations, and I read the first page (also at this used book store, they really have a GREAT YA selection), and I really liked it. So, I bought it!

So, what did you guys get this week? Anything really good? Links to your posts are appreciated(:

<end transmission>

In My Mailbox (6)

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by The Story Siren, (for more info click on the picture) where we book bloggers talk about the books we have received/borrowed/bought for the week. I got a lot of these right after my last IMM post, and I've reviewed a couple, but I'm gonna talk about all of 'em here, too. Here goes:

At the library I got:

Vanish: Sophie Jordan

I loved Firelight and desperately need to know what happens next!!

Unwind: Neal Shusterman

This kind of just looked really cool. I dig sci-fi, and it just looks good ya know?

Anna and the French Kiss: Stephanie Perkins

I read a review of this from The Fascinating Life of a Teenage Bookworm, and she made it look really good, so I got it?

Nevermore: Kelly Creagh

Kinda already read and loved this one. Wrote a review for it, too.

Unraveling: Elizabeth Norris

Also read and didn't really like this one. No review for it though.

The Boyfriend List: E. Lockhart

This looked light and fluffy and fun to read, so I got it.

Under the Never Sky: Veronica Rossi

(it's that one you can't really see in the pic, in case you are extremely unobservant and have yet to notice I go in order) Another sci-fi romance sorta thing. It looked interesting and it's fairly new.

Babe in Boyland: Jody Gehrman

Another teen girl book. It looked really really cute and I couldn't help myself.

Tankborn: Karen Sandler

More sci-fi. Again, it looked really interesting.

And then I bought a book (at a used book store, but, whatever):

Strange Angels: Lili St. Crow

Had high hopes for this one. I read and reviewed it already.

So yeah, a lot of books. I was a little lazy and didn't say much for each one, but that's as good as it's gonna get! So, what did you guys get this week? Links or you can just tell me (if you don't have a blog, or don't do anything IMM-like) in the comments.

<end transmission>

In My Mailbox (5)

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by The Story Siren, (for more info click on the picture) where we book bloggers talk about the books we have received/borrowed/bought for the week. I just got back from the library, and I got:

Demon Princess: Reign or Shine: Michelle Rowen

I'm not quite sure why I picked this one. Judging by the cover this is definitely not a book I would typically read. It looks way too teen girl for me (yes I am one, but not one of those types). However, Richelle Mead said she liked it.... I don't know I just kind of have a good feeling about it. I'll let y'all know what I thought when I read it.

Grave Mercy: Robin LaFevers

I think Goodreads told me to read this one a while ago. I don't remember what it's about, I just kind of grabbed it, because it was new at my library. It has a pretty cover that kind of reminds me of Dead Beautiful.

Variant: Robison Wells

I am most excited for this one!! I actually just started it, (I'm only a few pages in) and I know I am going to like it. I think Goodreads told me to read this one too a while back, and my library just got it. I just love the cover and the evil boarding school thing. I'll have a review in the next few days.

Misfit: Jon Skovron

I saw this on my way out and picked it up, because a) I liked the cover & b) the premise sounds really cool. I think I saw it on Goodreads a while ago too. So, yeah.

My books always happen to be color-coordinated every week. It's kind of weird... Anyways, (as usual) tell me what you guys got this week or like me to your blog post!

<end transmission>

[An Extremely Belated] In My Mailbox (4)

If anyone actually attempted to read my blog over the past week, they probably noticed that I wasn't posting anything. I just got back from a mission trip in Haiti, and did not have access to any form of technology, so I really couldn't post anything. I'm gonna try and get caught up today and tomorrow, so here is my IMM for last week:

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by The Story Siren, (for more info click on the picture) where we bloggers talk about the books we have received/borrowed/bought for the week. Since I wasn't even in the country, I only had one book this week:

Scarlet: A.C. Gaughen

I heard about this on my Goodreads recommendations, and thought it sounded totally awesome. I am such a sucker for fairy tale retellings (my favorite books in middle school were The Sisters Grimm series, and it just went downhill from there), and Robin Hood was always my favorite story as a kid (I loved the Disney version, you know, the one with the fox as Robin Hood and the bear as Little John?), therefore, this book has got to be perfect for me.

So yeah, that's all I had this week (I have yet to read it) so tell me what you guys have or give me links to your IMM posts!

<end transmission>

In My Mailbox (3)

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by The Story Siren, (for more info click on the picture) where we bloggers talk about the books we have received/borrowed/bought for the week. I got books from the library & I bought one. These are dangerous times guys...

OKAY so this week I got these from the library:

The Beginning of After: Jennifer Castle

Um, well, Goodreads told me to read it... and the cover was pretty... Sounds really good though!!

The Immortal Rlues: Julie Kagawa

I have heard so many rave reviews of this book, I couldn't not get it! Let me tell you, I am on the vamp bandwagon (don't judge), and this has been called one of the best YA vampire books yet (I read it on Twitter, it must be true). SO, yeah, pretty psyched for this one, cause it looks super duper cool. I'll write a review when I finish it, I promise.

Forbidden: Syrie James & Ryan M. James

I am also on the angel bandwagon, and I like the whole romeo-juliet-shouldn't-fall-in-love-but-do thing. I'm hoping this story ends a leetle happier than Romeo & Juliet...

Eve: Anna Carey

I adore post-apocalyptic books, like y'all have no idea. The whole disease thing makes me think of Wither (which I loved) and then escaping into the forest reminds me of Prized (which I also loved), so maybe this one will be just as good as the two combined??? I'm hoping.

Destined: Aprilynne Pike

:'( The final Wings book. This is kinda bittersweet for me, 'cause I loved The other three books, and don't want the story end yet, but I have got to know who Laurel pick!! Personally, I am team Tamani, but ya know I could settle for David, as long as Laurel gets a happy ending!

AND THEN I BOUGHT A BOOK (even though it was only $2.99 on my Nook... I still bought it).

Shadows: Jennifer Armentrout

I needed more Daemon & co, so I finally got this. Plus, I really wanted to know what happened to Dawson and his girl. I will def post a review soon!!

So, what did y'all get this week? Leave me a link to your IMM posts in the comments, or, ya know, just tell me what you got(:

Happy Reading!
