Strange Angels

Lili St. Crow

Strange Angels (Strange Angels, #1)
In Strange Angels, Dru Anderson has what her grandmother called “the touch.” (Comes in handy when you’re traveling from town to town with your dad, hunting ghosts, suckers, wulfen, and the occasional zombie.)
Then her dad turns up dead—but still walking—and Dru knows she’s next. Even worse, she’s got two guys hungry for her affections, and they’re not about to let the fiercely independent Dru go it alone. Will Dru discover just how special she really is before coming face-to-fang with whatever—or whoever— is hunting her?

Alright, well, I had been extremely excited for this book and I was just a teensy bit disappointed. I got kind of confused, a lot, about exactly what was going on (though, I have an extremely short attention span and tend to skip stuff). However, I still really liked the story. The mythology and folklore and junk was all super intriguing.

So, plotwise, this book was just kind of OK. Almost all of the plot is given away in the little summary up top, and I didn't really like that. One of the guys doesn't show up till near the end of the book (mind you, he was my very favorite) but, seriously don't tell everybody what's gonna happen! Let them read it!!! Otherwise, I liked it.

I liked Dru (what the heck does it stand for?!), but she swore way too much. I mean, the book was like 1/4 swearing!! (Unraveling was exactly the same) And that really really bugged me. I mean can't she get her point across without dropping an f-bomb every time she opens her mouth?? Aside from that, she was cool and fairly good at what she does. And then there was Graves (what's his real name?). He was OK, but he had a unibrow, so uh not really book crush material. He was funny, though. Christophe was my very favorite character in the whole book. He was sexy and aloof and fantastic and he was the one that made me start paying attention and like the book. Seriously, if he & Dru don't end up together, I'm gonna cry. He's just fantabulous.

The cover is hot. Like, it's so insanely fantastic that it gave me extremely high hopes for the book. It makes Dru look totally cool and kick butt and it makes you think that the book will be all cool and action-flick-y. Unfortunately, Dru wasn't anything like the chick on the cover, and that made me sad.

Overall, it was a fairly interesting book, and I do want to read the next one, so I'll give it 4 stars. It wasn't my favorite book ever, but it was interesting and I am in love with Christophe.
