First there are nightmares.
Every night Ellie is haunted by terrifying dreams of monstrous creatures that are hunting her, killing her.
Then come the memories.
When Ellie meets Will, she feels on the verge of remembering something just beyond her grasp. His attention is intense and romantic, and Ellie feels like her soul has known him for centuries. On her seventeenth birthday, on a dark street at midnight, Will awakens Ellie's power, and she knows that she can fight the creatures that stalk her in the grim darkness. Only Will holds the key to Ellie's memories, whole lifetimes of them, and when she looks at him, she can no longer pretend anything was just a dream.
Now she must hunt.
Ellie has power that no one can match, and her role is to hunt and kill the reapers that prey on human souls. But in order to survive the dangerous and ancient battle of the angels and the Fallen, she must also hunt for the secrets of her past lives and truths that may be too frightening to remember.

Oh my goodness this book was too cute!!! First I gotta say a big huge thanks to Momo from Books Over Boys and The Little Reapers (the site I won this book on) and Courtney Allison Moulton for going through all the trouble of mailing it to me (my address was being wonky and the post office couldn't find my town in my zip code or something. so she sent it to my grandma's house XD). Anyways, it's beautiful and signed, and just thanks so much to those two!!!

So, back to my review!

Ellie has got to be one of the cutest heroines EVER (like, she's right up there with Evie from Paranormalcy, almost though, cause no one can beat the cuteness of a pink taser....) she has all of the HSM movies and loves shopping and named her car MARSHMALLOW. I mean, you gotta love it. She's also totally kick-butt and can kill things with these fantastic flamey swords, which are very cool. And then Will shows up and she's all "Uh, dude? You're kinda weird." Which was also fantastic, because I am so sick of YA heroines chucking themselves and random guys who pay them a smidgen of attention. Frustrates me to no end. Anyways, Ellie's awesome because she doesn't do that! And she kills things. So, I liked her lots. (my brain is fried, if you can't tell.)

I do love Will too though. He was so selfless and amazing and kind and caring. AND HE ALSO KILLED THINGS. like, with Ellie! How awesome is that?! He has these like awesome super powers, and he's immortal. He's super hot too. Just putting that out there. :) I loved Kate, Ellie's BFF, also. She was like the most bestest best friend EVER. She was funny, she was supportive, she was smart, and she was so cool. She was the main reason I would laugh out loud while I was reading (which was kind of weird looking in the middle of Calculus but whatever). I wish Kate was my BFF. She was that cool.

The plot was pretty good, there was a little too much detail for my liking, and there were a few points that I wished there had been more on, but overall it was really enjoyable. It was kind of a combo of City of Bones Paranormalcy and Shattered Souls, which, as you may know (or not) are some of my very favorite books, so that was fun. I mean, it is definitely it's own story, it just reminded me of them a little with the mythology, the cuteness, and the reincarnation thing.

So, this book was pretty good!! I adore Ellie and can't wait to dig into Wings of the Wicked (which I won *also signed* with Angelfire)!!! I give it 4 stars for some minor plotish things that I didn't love, but I definitely would recommend it!

Oh and BTW, if you all are curious at all about me (I doubt you are, but I'm too excited not to tell), I got nominated by my school to go to North Carolina's Governor's School next summer! I can pick any subject I want (English!) but the application is pretty intense and I'm a little concerned my AP English teacher won't write me a recommendation (I don't think he likes me much), but one can hope. Only a certain number of people can be chosen by the state, so I might not even get in. Very excited anyways :)

Just wanted to squee about it online!
