One choice can transform you--or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves--and herself--while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable--and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so."New York Times" bestselling author Veronica Roth's much-anticipated second book of the dystopian "Divergent" series is another intoxicating thrill ride of a story, rich with hallmark twists, heartbreaks, romance, and powerful insights about human nature.

I just finished this book and am trying to fix my feels into something other than "HDUSFHSFSJDIOSKAJSM" so cut me some slack :) This book was intense. Insurgent was a fantastic sequel to Divergent; it delved right back into Tris' and Four's story and war-torn world they are living in. It was heartbreaking and sweet and everything in between.

So, Tris is really torn up on the inside after everything that happened in Divergent. She's really struggling with the choices she made during the attack, when her friends were turned into foes and she had very few choices that actually involved her survival. Because of that, she became desperate and had to kill and see people she loved and cared about die. Now, she's throwing herself into danger to better protect the people she still has left. She's become crazy reckless and that recklessness is putting a huge wedge between her and Tobias (I love him so much, but more on that later). He cares for her so much and can't stand to see her destroy herself. Unfortunately, a large portion of the book is spent with a lot of tension (and not the good kind) between Tris and Tobias. It added a lot of suspense and emotions to the book, and that was a good thing. Aside from their personal problems, they also have to deal with the Erudite threat that has continued on from the first book. So, what I am trying to say is, Insurgent has action and romance and suspense and all the things you want in a sequel to a fantastic book. There are several new characters who come into play, and some old friends of Tris's who we get to see a ton more of.

Oh goodness, the characters are so amazing. I loved every single one I was supposed to and hated [with a passion] all the bad guys. I may even love Four/Tobias even more than I did in Divergent. He can be kind of dense, but his love for Tris always shines through (even when they were fighting). He was sweet and caring, but fierce and an amazing fighter when he needed to be. Side note: I totally love how the Dauntless were always armed, so cool. I would so wanna be one of them if I was part of this world (unfortunately, I would probably be Candor, since I can't keep my mouth shut). OKAY back to the characters. Tris is still totally kick-butt, but she is a little bit more human in this book. She's less determined to prove herself than she is to make sure her parents did not die in vain, and (even though she was kinda stupid sometimes) I really liked that about her. She also didn't give a hoot about what people had to say about her, and I think that made her a really awesome heroine. I also think she's adorable (but don't tell her that, she would hurt me). And then my fave secondary character is totally Christina. She's strong and proud, but she ends up showing some weaknesses throughout the book, and I really appreciated that. She's also an amazing friend and I adore her.

I love the cover with a fiery passion in my heart. It's just so beautiful!!!!

So, for those of you who skipped over most of my review (I don't blame you, it's really long), here's a quick summary of what I think: Insurgent was a fantabulous sequel and this series is amazing and you should read these books. The plot was romantic and suspenseful and loaded with action. The characters are to die for and total anxiety inducing. You worry about their well-being while you lay in bed at night. They also will haunt your dreams. Insurgent is one of those books. So, yeah. I totally give this book five stars and you should read it. :D
